OIL FILTERS
Modern internal combustion engines offer excellent performance but require top-notch lubrication for smooth operation. As engine performance increases and maintenance intervals lengthen, not only must engine oils meet increasingly stringent requirements, but the quality of the oil filters used plays a central role in preventing damage from contaminants, soot, or unburned fuel. The quality of the oil filter thus significantly contributes to the overall performance of the system.
When a filter fulfills its task, internal engine parts—such as connecting rods, camshafts, and valves—are protected from contaminants that can cause serious damage. These parts are expensive. Choosing the right oil and the right filter can significantly extend the life of the engine.
A.Z. Meisterteile oil filters effectively clean the oil circuit of impurities, are durable, and offer maintenance-friendly solutions. They guarantee optimal filtration and flow rate even under maximum load.
Typically, two types of oil filters are used:
Screw Filters
Screw-on oil filters are still the most commonly found in vehicle engines. However, in modern engines, resistance to damage or ease of filter change no longer has the highest priority, so they are increasingly taking a back seat. At first glance, screw-on oil filters may look very similar, but their internal structure can actually be different. The valves in the filter also play a significant role, as they greatly influence the proper functioning of the filter. Screw-on oil filters can contain three types of valves: bypass, return, and siphon valves.
The operating parameters and design features of this filter group must be carefully selected to ensure the trouble-free operation of the engine oil system. It is important always to use the filter designed and specified for the respective engine and not just choose based on size and thread, as different filter media or valves set to other values can cause problems in engine operation.
Filter Inserts
These are usually installed in a sealed filter housing that is connected to the engine. The valves, which ensure proper function, and the elements that hold the filter insert in the correct position are typically integrated into the filter housing. Modern oil filter inserts are manufactured without the use of metal parts. Such filters have a housing and a cover made of modern plastic. The disposal of filter cartridges without metal elements is more environmentally friendly than recycling screw-on filters. Although the materials of oil filter housings used in today's engines have changed significantly over the years, the basic technical characteristics remain the same.
FUEL FILTERS
Modern fuel injection systems require an extremely clean, homogeneous, and free-flowing fuel supply. However, during the process of pressure build-up and delivery, various contaminants can enter the fuel, which need to be filtered out. The fuel system must be protected from even the smallest contaminants and corrosion damage. This protection safeguards the engine and ensures the efficient operation of the vehicle.
The fuel filter removes impurities from the fuel, such as rust, metal shavings, dust, and other solid particles. The consequences of inadequate fuel filtration can include significant engine performance loss, interruptions in fuel supply, or premature damage to components of the fuel system.
Fuel filters can come in various designs: screw-on filters (similar to oil filters), separately installable filters with connecting pipes (these filters can consist of metal or plastic housings that are connected to appropriate fuel lines), filter inserts (environmentally friendly filter elements that are replaced without a housing, resulting in less waste), inline filters (integrated directly into the fuel line), and, if applicable, pre-filters (typically used in diesel systems).
How often should fuel filters be changed in a car?
In most cases, you should change the fuel filter every 20,000 to 40,000 kilometers, depending on the vehicle and driving conditions. You can buy the new fuel filter online on the AutoAZ website and either replace it yourself or with the help of a mechanic.
A.Z. Meisterteile offers a wide range of fuel filters that meet the highest standards thanks to advanced design and manufacturing technologies, as well as continuous quality controls.
